Incident: SQLCODE -530 opening new accounts
Account opening script failed: DSNT408I SQLCODE = -530 Two new customers are waiting at the Ashford Vale branch
Opening two new accounts uses two scripts. The customer script NEWCUST runs first, then NEWACCT. This morning someone ran NEWACCT on its own:
INSERT INTO ACCOUNT VALUES ('A0001301', 'C00013', 'CHK', 0.00, 'A'), ('A0001401', 'C00014', 'SAV', 0.00, 'A')
It failed with SQLCODE -530. NEWCUST is:
INSERT INTO CUSTOMER VALUES ('C00013', 'Mira Spoolwright', 'Ashford Vale', 'R', '2026-10-19'), ('C00014', 'Otto Jesson', 'Port Mallow', 'R', '2026-10-19')
Find out why and open the accounts.
What you will do
- Run NEWACCT and read the -530
- Check the parent rows
- Run the scripts in the right order
