zowe: Zowe CLI commands you will use most

Everyday Zowe CLI commands for working with datasets and jobs from a terminal or a pipeline.

Zowe CLI connects to z/OS through z/OSMF. After creating a profile with your host and user ID, these commands cover most daily work.

Datasets

# list datasets matching a pattern
$ zowe zos-files list data-set "DEV.PAY.*"
# list the members of a PDS
$ zowe zos-files list all-members "DEV.COBOL"
# download a member to a local file
$ zowe zos-files download data-set "DEV.COBOL(PAYCALC)" -f PAYCALC.cbl
# upload a local file into a member
$ zowe zos-files upload file-to-data-set PAYCALC.cbl "DEV.COBOL(PAYCALC)"

Jobs

# submit JCL from a member and wait for completion
$ zowe zos-jobs submit data-set "DEV.JCL(COMPILE)" --wait-for-output
# list your jobs
$ zowe zos-jobs list jobs
# show all spool output for a job
$ zowe zos-jobs view all-spool-content JOB04512
